Things You'll Need
Instructions
Connecting the Mic
Unpack and unroll the USB cable for the Microphone.
Insert the USB cable into an open USB slot on the back of the Wii console.
Insert the "Rock Band" or "Guitar Hero" game disc into the Wii console and power up the system.
Start the game. Make sure there is a Wii remote active for all of the instruments currently in use. You do need a remote if you are using the microphone. If you are using the guitar and drums as well, you will need three remotes. Obviously, if you add a second guitar controller, you will need a fourth remote.
Singing
Start a game and select a song. Select your character, set the difficulty and choose the Vocals mode.
Wait for the vocals to begin. You will see the lines for the drums and guitars appear on the screen, and the vocals bar will be at the top. Try singing a few random notes to determine how high and low the vocal track will go, so you know roughly what pitches the various notes might be.
Watch the Vocals bar. Across the bottom, you will see the words to the song scrolling from right to left. When the word and its corresponding note appears, sing that word at the pitch it calls for--the higher on the vocals bar, the higher the note should be. Sing confidently, with a strong voice. If you miss the words, try and at least make a sound at the right pitch so that you rack up points for your band.
When you see a long note that moves from one pitch to another, change your pitch at about that point.
Watch out for Solo moments, at which point you should make some kind of loud noise. This is where the musician might add a random "Yeah!" or other kind of scream in a traditional rock band.
