How to Unlock Expert Staff Ghosts in Mario Kart Wii

"Mario Kart Wii" can be played with up to four players in the same room, or online against eight competitors. If you want to compete without other gamers, you can choose the Time Trials mode. Within this mode, you'll face off against data saved by the staff members who created the game. The data is saved in the form of a ghost--a computer controlled opponent--who always finishes the race in a set time. Beating the best times of the game staff will unlock the Expert Staff Ghosts, the most difficult competitors for each course.

Instructions

  Insert "Mario Kart Wii" into your Nintendo Wii console and start the game. Press ̶0;A̶1; to access the licenses and select your profile.

  Choose ̶0;Single Player̶1; from the main menu and press ̶0;A̶1;. Scroll down to ̶0;Time Trials̶1; and press ̶0;A̶1; to select this mode. Choose your player and vehicle from the next menu.

  Select the ̶0;Cup̶1; and ̶0;Course̶1; you will be racing on. Each course has a different Staff Ghost you must defeat to unlock the Expert Staff Ghost.

  Check the top of the screen for information on the Staff Ghost you will be racing. Listed is the time it took him to complete the course. For example, on Luigi Circuit, Nin*sato finished in one minute and 29 seconds. Press ̶0;A̶1; to begin race against the Staff Ghost.

  Race against the ghost and only use your boost mushrooms as you near the ghost. This will keep you consistently ahead of your opponent.

  Finish the race with a time several seconds below the Staff Ghost to unlock the Expert Staff Ghost. Times required to unlock the Expert Staff Ghost vary, but will range between four and ten seconds.

  Return to the ̶0;Time Trials̶1; menu and the Expert Staff Ghost can be challenged by pressing ̶0;up̶1; on your Wii Remote after choosing a course.
