How to Network the Wii Between Friends

Network with your friends over the Nintendo Wii Wi-Fi connection to play multiplayer games online, exchange messages and even send gifts. The Nintendo Wii implements the friend code system, meaning you'll have to swap a long, random code with your friend before you can interact with them online. In addition to your Nintendo Wii's friend code, several games require unique codes of their own.

Instructions

  1. Connect to a Friend

    • 1

Find your friend code the "message board" icon (shaped like an envelope) in the lower right hand corner of the Wii home menu. Click "create message," then click "address book" and your friend code will display on the front page of the address book.

    • 2

Input your friend's friend code by clicking the "register" button in the same menu, then type in the code, your friend's name and assign a Mii.

    • 3

Use the message board to send messages to your friend.

    • 4

Attach a Mii to the message by sending the message through the Mii Channel

    • 5

Send a virtual console game or WiiWare game as a gift from the Wii Shop Channel. Click the game you wish to send, click the "Gift" option and then select your friend's name from your address book. Note you will need Wii Points (purchased as a gift card from a video game retailer or through the Wii Shop Channel with a credit card).
