How to Extend a Wii Sensor Bar Distance

The Nintendo Wii uses the sensor bar to interpret the motions of players holding a Wii Remote, and a corresponding action will be seen on the television screen. There is a limit to how far away you can play games from the sensor bar for the motion to be displayed accurately in the game. Take steps to help extend the distance as much as possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the sensor bar as close to you as possible. While you would normally mount the bar on top of the television, you may gain some distance by placing it on the television stand instead.

    • 2

Check to make sure the sensor bar cord that connects the bar to the Wii console is not entangled with other wires. The more cord you have available the closer you can place the sensor bar on the television stand.

    • 3

Make sure the sensor bar is placed at the edge of the television stand. If it is just an inch or two away from the front edge, the path between the Wii Remote and sensor may be partially obscured, resulting in inaccurate game input.

    • 4

Use the sensor bar stand that comes included with the Wii. This elevates the bar slightly to help prevent the obscuring of the signal between the sensor and the Wii Remote.

    • 5

Align the bar with the center of your TV. This will allows for the most accurate controls and distance.
