How to Extend a Wii Sensor Bar

The sensor bar for a Nintendo Wii is a device that connects to the console and measures the motion of the Wii remote for input in gameplay. If you want to extend the sensor bar out from the television or to a higher elevation there are methods to do this. Extending the sensor bar can make it easier for the bar to read the inputs from the Wii remote and also allow players to play games from farther away.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the plug for the sensor bar into the sensor bar connector on the back of the Nintendo Wii. Make sure that the cord does not become entangled in other wires behind the television to allow you to stretch the bar the maximum distance the cord length allows.

    • 2

Mount the bar on top of the television using the adhesive on the bottom of the bar. Make sure the bar is even with the front of the television so the signal between the bar and the Wii remote is not obscured.

    • 3

Try putting the bar on your television stand as an alternative. Use the adhesive to mount it to the front of the stand. Unless your television is positioned at the very front of the stand this will extend the distance slightly in comparison with a television-mounted sensor bar.

    • 4

Use the sensor bar stand to increase elevation. Align the pegs on the stand with the holes in the sensor bar. Use the adhesive on the bottom of the stand to mount it on the television or television stand.

    • 5

Align the center of the sensor bar with the center of the television (no matter which position you choose for the sensor bar) for maximum accuracy in control.
