Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn on your Nintendo Wii console. Select the Wii button beside the date and time on the lower left side of your screen. This will bring you to a new screen where you can select between Data Management or Wii Settings. Select Wii Settings.
Go to the second page of the Wii System Setting menu and select "Internet." On the Internet menu, select connection settings. Choose a connection and you will be taken to a screen where you must select between a wired or wireless connection. Select wireless connection.
Click "Search for an Access Point" and the Wii will begin scanning for a network to join. Select the network when it appears. If this is a secure network, you will have to enter a security key. Do so when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions until you are given the opportunity to perform a connection test. Click "OK." If the test is successful, you will have to perform a system update and you are then connected to play Wii games over the Internet.
Insert a Wii disc into your console; if the game is compatible for online play, an option to play over the Internet should appear on the game's menu. Almost all Wii games do have online play.
