How to Hook a Wii to a Monitor

Having an extra PC monitor lying around can be a very useful thing, especially if you have a video game system that you don̵7;t want to hook up to a television. Most PC monitors have either a VGA or DVI input, one of which will be needed to connect a video game system. With the proper cables, the Nintendo Wii can connect to either of these inputs.

  • Wii VGA HDTV AV cable
  • Nintendo Wii component cable
  • Component to DVI adapter

Instructions

  1. Connect to VGA Input

    • 1

      Plug in the Wii end of the Wii VGA/HDTV/AV cable into your Wii̵7;s AV outputs.

      Connect the VGA end of the cable into your monitor̵7;s VGA input. You will have to screw in the screws on either side of the cable to make a secure connection.

      Turn on your monitor and Wii and adjust the settings. Depending on the monitor̵7;s resolution, you will have to adjust the settings to give you the best performance with the Wii. The Wii̵7;s maximum resolution is 480p.

    Connect to DVI Input

      Plug in the component to DVI adapter into your monitors DVI input.

      Plug in the Wii component cable to your Wii.

      Plug in the red, green and blue end of the Wii component cable into the DVI adapter.

      Turn on your monitor and Wii and adjust the settings. Depending on the monitor̵7;s resolution, you will have to adjust the settings to give you the best performance with the Wii. The Wii̵7;s maximum resolution is 480p.
