How to Fix a Flashing Light on Wii Rock Band

"Rock Band" is an interactive music game available on multiple video game platforms, including the Nintendo Wii. "Rock Band" uses controller-like musical instruments, such as a plastic guitar controller and an electronic drum kit controller, to allow users to play music in sync with on-screen musical notes. The instruments, contrary to how normal Wii controllers connect, are connected via a USB connection to the Wii console. A blinking light on any of the Rock Band instrument controllers indicates a connection problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify that all instruments are connected to the included "Rock Band" USB hub. The small USB hub box has enough USB ports for all of the instruments. Check the back of each instrument to ensure that the USB cord is firmly connected.

    • 2

Verify that the USB hub connection cable is securely connected to one of the USB ports located on the back of the Nintendo Wii console.

    • 3

Restart the "Rock Band" game so that the main menu, where it says "Start," appears on the TV screen.

    • 4

Press the small "+" button on each of the Rock Band instruments while still on the main menu screen of the game. As each instrument is registered and connected to the game, the blinking light will stop blinking.

    • 5

Switch the USB hub connection to the other USB port on the Wii console, if the light on each of the instruments continues to blink. If only one instrument light continues to blink, recheck that instrument's connection and switch its USB cable to another connection on the USB hub. Repeat Step 4 after doing this.
