How to Connect My Wii to a Monitor

Gamers love playing games on their PCs as much as they do playing games on their Nintendo Wii game consoles. Being able to attach the Nintendo Wii to the computer monitor means the gamer doesn̵7;t have to choose one over the other because the Wii uses a TV while the PC uses the computer monitor. Connecting the Wii to the computer monitor only requires the addition of a video converter box, which will adapt the video signal from the Wii and provide the right kind of connector to use with the computer monitor.

Instructions

  Place the Nintendo Wii next to the computer monitor Plug the power cord into the Wii and into a wall socket for power. Place the Wii sensor bar either on top of the monitor of just below it, depending upon how wide and flat the top is. Plug the wire from the sensor bar into the sensor bar connector on the Wii. Turn the sensor bar so that the glossy plastic side is facing out.

  Place the video converter box next to the Wii and plug it into the wall socket for power. Attach the square connector of the Wii component cable into the socket on the back of the Wii.

  Plug the red plug from the Wii component cable into the red connector on the video converter box. Repeat this process with the green plug going to the green connector and the blue plug going to the blue connector. Plug the red RCA audio plug into the red RCA connector on the video converter box. Plug the white RCA audio plug into the white RCA connector on the video converter box.

  Plug one end of the VGA cable into the VGA output connector of the video converter box. Plug the other end of the VGA cable into the VGA connector on the computer monitor. Plug the red and white RCA plugs of the audio cable into the red and white RCA audio output connectors on the front of the video converter box. Plug the mini-jack at the other end of the audio cable into the audio input on one of the pair of powered speakers.

  Turn on the computer monitor. Turn on the Video converter box. Turn on the Wii. Wait for the Wii's Home menu to appear on the computer monitor's screen. Select "Aspect ratio" from the Video converter box remote and adjust the viewing screen to match the type of monitor, for example setting it to 16:10 if it is a widescreen monitor.

  Go to "Settings" on the Wii. Select "Widescreen" and then select "16:9." Confirm the settings by clicking "OK" with the Wii remote controller. Return to the Home menu and activate a function from the Home menu or put a game disc in and play your Wii on the computer monitor.
