How to Access Wireless Hot Spots on the Wii

Your Nintendo Wii is set up to connect to the Internet in several different ways, including wireless Internet access. If your Wii is hooked up near a WiFi hot spot, you can connect to it in the same way you can on a laptop computer. Connecting to the Internet on your Wii allows you to download games from the Nintendo Channel, browse the web with the Wii Opera browser and play games online with users across the world.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Wii and access the main menu. Select the "Wii" button at the lower left-hand side of the menu.

    • 2

Select "Wii Settings," and then scroll down and select "Internet."

    • 3

Select "Connection Settings," and then select an open connection spot (marked as "None").

    • 4

Choose "Wireless Connection," and then select "Search for an Access Point" to search for the hot spot connection.

    • 5

Select the hot spot access point. The connection name is usually similar to the name of the business or location. Select "Ok."

    • 6

Enter the network password, if required. The process is similar to connecting to a hot spot on a laptop computer; some connections are "Secured" and require a password; others are "Unsecured" and do not require a password.

    • 7

Select "Ok" to connect to the hot spot. Return to the main menu. You can use your Wii Opera browser to browse the Web, or play games online with other users.
