Wii Animal Crossing Hints

In "Animal Crossing: City Folk" for the Wii, you come to a new town, get a job, make friends, and tend to your house--just like in real life. Played on a day-to-day basis, your life will change with the seasons. In summer, go fishing and collect shells on the beach. In winter, build snowmen and stack up firewood. In between, celebrate the holidays like Fourth of July, Halloween and Christmas. Of course, you will need money, or in "Animal Crossing," bells.
  1. Plant Exotic Fruit

    • If you can't travel to a friend's town to pick up some exotic fruit, send letters to all of your neighbors asking for fruit. Attach cheap seashells to the letters as gifts. In a few days, about half of your neighbors will send you fruit, many of them exotic. Plant the fruit and keep the weeds away, and you will have an orchard of fruit that cost 500 bells apiece, instead of local fruit that only cost 100 bells each. Harvest the fruit, sell them to Tom Nook and count the profits.

    Fish between June and September

    • One of the easiest and most enjoyable way to make money in the summer is to go fishing and sell your catch to Tom Nook. Between late June and early September, the river and ocean surrounding your city is full of rare fish. In the river, try to catch the arowana fish for 10,000 bells, the dorado fish for 15,000 bells and the arapalma fish for 10,000 bells. In the ocean, try to snag the Napoleon fish for 10,000 bells, the hammerhead shark for 8,000 bells and the shark for 15,000 bells. Year-round in the rain, search the seas for the rare fossil fish called coelacanth for 15,000 bells.

Get Interest for Your Bells in the Bank

    • Time travel is when you reset the clock in "Animal Crossing: City Folk," or if you are very sneaky, reset the time on your Wii's internal clock. This enables you to earn more interest on money, speculate on turnips or go back in time to purchase rare items. An easy way to earn interest on your money is to go to the Town Hall and put 50,000 bells in your bank account, then save and quit the game. In your Wii Settings, change the date to 12 years ahead. Restart "Animal Crossing" and check your bank account. You will now have around 100,000 bells. Repeat this process to become a millionaire. You will have to deal with the negative effects of time travel, such as neighbors moving away and lots of weeds and cockroaches invading your house.

    Obtain the Golden Slingshot

    • One of your goals when playing "Animal Crossing: City Folk" is to collect all the golden items, such as the golden shovel, golden fishing rod, golden axe and golden watering can. To catch the golden slingshot, use your slingshot to knock down eight present balloons. At a random time after this, you'll notice three joined balloons floating through the sky. Shoot down these three balloons to obtain the golden slingshot. To find present balloons, always carry your slingshot on you and be outside a building at increments of five minutes (for example, 2:05, 2:35, or 2:55). Balloons always appear at random times ending in five minutes.

Fixing Your Face After a Bee Sting

    • If your face is all swollen from a bee sting and you don't want to wait for it to heal, save and exit the game. On the Wii menu, go to the Mii channel. Edit your Mii and save the changes. Restart "Animal Crossing: City Folk." Your face will look like your Mii without the bee stings.
