How to Hook Up a Wii System

Getting a new video gaming system is an exciting time for any household. If your household is getting its first Wii, you might be doubly excited. The Nintendo Wii entered the video game market in 2006 and was hailed for its innovative game playing system. If you have a Wii, you will want to get to playing as quickly as possible which means you will need to set it up. Luckily, setting up the Wii is extrememly easy.

  • Nintendo Wii
  • Wii power cable
  • Wii sensor bar
  • Wii video cable
  • Television with video inputs
  • Wii controller (Wiimote)
  • 2 AA batteries

Instructions

    • 1

      Unpack the Wii from the box and lay out all the pieces. You should have the Wii console, sensor bar, video cable and power cable.

      Attach the power cable to the back of the Wii and place the power cord into a power outlet. There should be a light on the "Power" button which turns on.

      Plug the video cable in the video output port on the back of the Wii. Connect the other end of the video cable into the video input of the television.

      Connect the sensor bar into the sensor bar output on the back of the Wii. Place the sensor bar either in front of or on top of the television, in the center.

      Open up the back of the Wiimote and install the AA batteries according to the diagram on the battery cover. Don't close the cover.

      Turn the television on and select the video input which you have plugged the Wii into. Press the "Power" button on the Wii. The television should display the beginning screen of the Wii.

      Open the front cover of the Wii. Press the Red button on the front of the Wii and on the back of the Wiimote (next to the batteries) at the same time in order to sync the remote to the Wii system. When the light on the front of the remote stops flashing and turns on, the remote is synced.
