Hooking Up Dancing Mats
"The Dance Pad Extreme" by PDP, that you can buy from video game stores or online retailers, is a universal pad that, through a universal adapter (which can be purchased along with the pad), connects to the top of the Wii. On top of the Wii, in a little compartment, is a GameCube plug for classic Gamecube controllers. This is where you plug in the dance pad. With the pad plugged in, you can now fully play your Dance Revolution game with your new Universal Pad. The Dance Pad Extreme is an example of a universal pad. There are many universal pads for "Dance Dance Revolution Wii" and they all connect the same.
"Konami - Dance Dance Revolution Mat" is the mat that comes with the "Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party" and "Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2" bundle. This dancing mat also connects into the top of your Wii console. Plug the cord into the GameCube slot on the Wii. The difference between this mat and the universal mat is no adapter is needed. The downfall is that you can only use this mat on the Wii. With the universal mat, you can use it on a Wii, PlayStation 2, Xbox and other consoles that have "Dance Dance Revolution" video games. The original mat is also free with the bundle, so you do not have to shell out more money for the universal mat or the wireless mat, which is a good thing.
If you have a wireless mat, for example the "Intec Wireless Pad," you will need to make sure that your sensor bar for your Wii is aligned with the sensor in your wireless pad. From here, during game play, you can play without being connected through a cord. This is great because you can dance without having to worry about tripping over a wire. The only negative is that you can only use this mat on a Wii console.
