How to Find My Game Code on a Wii System

Each Wii or virtual console game system has a unique identifier that defines the name of the game. You can use this code to share a saved version of a game with other players. For example, if your friend is stuck on a level of a game and can't progress, you can give him a copy of your \"Save\" file if you've mastered the same level. He can then load your \"Save\" file onto his Wii and move to the next level.

Instructions

  1. How to Find Game Code on a Wii and Transfer a Save File

    • 1

Find the game's case. Look for a 10-digit code in small print and note the first four letters. For example, the game code for the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is RZDE. The letters stand for: R for Wii, ZD for Zelda and E for USA version of the Wii console.

    • 2

Use the Wii's \"Data Management\" tool to copy your \"Save\" file to an SD card.

    • 3

Insert the SD card into the SD card reader on your computer. Check that the transfer file is in a directory with the following folder structure:

      \\private\\Wii\\title\\GAMECODE\\data.bin

where GAMECODE is the code for your game. For example, RZD for Zelda.

If you have downloaded a \"Save\" file from the Internet to the SD instead of transferring the \"Save\" file from your Wii, you'll need to create the directory structure on your SD card.

    • 4

Load the SD card onto the Wii. You will not be able to play the \"Save\" file directly from the SD card, so use the Wii's \"Data Management\" tool to transfer the \"Save\" file into the Wii's internal memory.

    • 5

Start your game. Now, you will be playing with the new \"Save\" file.
