How to Add a Friend on the Nintendo Wii

One of the many features of the Nintendo Wii is the ability to connect with friends via the Internet to chat, trade files or play multiplayer games. Unfortunately, doing this is a bit more cumbersome than on other video game consoles, as you have to enter a 16-digit "friend code" in order for your Wii to recognize your friend's Wii. Luckily, once you enter it once, you don't have to do it again. When you try to add your friends, the Wii will automatically send them a message telling them that you want to add them.

     Turn the Wii on. Make sure your Internet connection is active.

     Select the envelope icon in the lower right corner of the Wii channel screen. This will take you to the Wii Message Board.

     Select and open the address book. Choose "Wii address."

   • 4

     Enter your friend's Wii code. Select "OK" when you are finished.

   • 5

     Select a nickname for the Wii code. You can also create and add a Mii for this specific Wii code if you'd like.
