How to Search the Internet With the Wii Game System

The Internet Channel is among the many channel options available for Nintendo Wii owners to download. This free service allows you to browse the Internet from the comfort of your easy chair using the Wii remote. As with Internet Explorer, you can save favorites, search for key terms or input your own preferred web address. If you can't type well, this method of browsing can be advantageous, because you use the Wii remote to browse and type in addresses. You can also easily zoom in and out to get a closer view of each webpage.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Wii Channel and download the Internet Channel. It is free, but you will need 203 free blocks in your Wii system memory.

    • 2

Click on the Internet Channel that is now saved in your Wii menu. Select "Start."

    • 3

Choose "Search," "Favorites" or "Web Address" from the start page of the Internet Channel to begin your browsing.

    • 4

Search for a word or phrase by using the Wii remote to "type" in letters and numbers on the keyboard that pops up on the screen. Choose either Google or Yahoo! as your search engine.

    • 5

Click the star at the bottom of the browsing screen to access "Favorites." Add a page to your favorites list by going to the "Favorites" screen while browsing the page.

    • 6

Type in your own web address by clicking on the "WWW" button at the bottom of the screen. As you input letters, the channel will provide a selection of possible words. You can use that as a shortcut for completing the web address.
