How to Plug in a Wii Component Cable

The Nintendo Wii is home video game console. Unlike most modern video game consoles, the Wii does not support high resolution formats. Because of this, the highest possible video quality can only be obtained by using a component cable (sold separately.) Component cables look similar to standard audio/video cables, however, they are slightly larger. To be able to use component cables, you must first make sure your television has component inputs. These are most common on TVs made in recent years and are almost certainly available on all HDTVs.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the rectangular plug on the component cable into the digital A/V out port on the back of the Wii.

    • 2

Connect the red plug of the component cable into the red component input of your television. Do not confuse the red component input with the standard red A/V input.

    • 3

Connect the green plug of the component cable into the green component input of your television.

    • 4

Connect the blue plug of the component cable into the green component input of your television.

    • 5

      Turn on the Wii.

    • 6

Place your TV into its component video mode. This is generally done using the same method you would use to place it into regular video mode.
