How to Copy Wii Memory to Another Wii

If you have a Nintendo Wii, you might want to know how to move saved data to another system. This way you can take your data over to a friend's house along with your games, or back up your data before returning your Wii for repair.

  • SD card (512 MB or greater preferred)

Instructions

  1. Copying Data from the Original Wii

    • 1

      Turn on the Wii you'd like to copy data from.

      Open the small door on the front of the Wii and carefully insert the SD card into the slot. The label on the card should face the disc slot.

      Press the "Wii" button in the bottom left corner of the main Wii menu.

      Press the "Data Management" button.

      Press the "Save Data" button.

      Press the "Wii" button.

      Select the save data you'd like to move.

      Press "Copy" if you want to leave a copy of the save data on your Wii, or "Move" if you'd like the only copy to be on the SD card.

      Eject the SD card by pushing on it.

    Moving Data to the New Wii

      Power on the Wii and insert the SD card.

      Press the "Wii" button on the main menu and navigate to the screen where all the save data is displayed.

      Press the "SD Card" tab at the top of the screen.

      Select the save data from the original Wii, and select "Move" or "Copy" as desired.

      Eject the SD card when you are finished.
