Friends
Mario isn't much fun without his friends. If you complete Peach's stadium, Peach and Daisy will both be unlocked. After clearing the Toadette puzzle, search in the bushes at Peach's stadium and Green Toad will be unlocked. To unlock Green Yoshi, find him at the manhole in Yoshi's ballpark. At Yoshi park there will be a light blue Yoshi with Green Magikoopa. Rescue light blue Yoshi and he will be unlocked. Use Yoshi and go to Yoshi Park. Find Red Yoshi and pound the ground of the tree next to Red Yoshi. Find Red Yoshi's brush and you will be able to unlock Red Yoshi. Start a game at Peach's stadium and Toad will be unlocked. At peach's stadium talk to Toadette and she will be unlocked. Use Yoshi to help Yellow Yoshi out of a tree and Yellow Yoshi will be unlocked.
Babies
In addition to Mario's regular friends you can also unlock baby versions of his friends. To unlock Baby Daisy, go to Peach Garden and use Wario's magnet to pull a baby rattle from the fountain. Then go to Yoshi's park and go through the manhole cover. Give Baby Daisy her baby rattle to unlock her. To unlock Baby DK, all you have to do is defeat DK's team. Baby DK is stuck in a palm tree in the DK Jungle. Free him to unlock him. In Mario's Stadium there are levers that control a bridge. Connect the bridge to let Baby Mario join you. Once you have acquired Baby Luigi go to Bowser Jr.'s team and save Baby Mario to unlock. To unlock Baby Peach, find her hiding in a bush in Peach's Stadium.
Bowser and Koopas
Bowser is the main villain of the Mario games and the Koopas are his soldiers, but you can play as them by unlocking some of them. After defeating Bowser Jr.'s Playroom, Bowser Jr. and the Magikoopas will be unlocked; then beat Bowser to unlock him too. In Wario City there is a Green Koopa stuck in a poster. Free him and Green Koopa will be unlocked. In Wario City there is a minion guarding the lighthouse. Defeat the minion and the Paratroopa will be unlocked. Get a paintbrush in Yoshi Park, then take it to Wario City and paint the billboard. This will unlock the Red Paratrooper.
Goombas and Shy Guys
Two other common bad guys in the Mario city are Goombas and Shy Guys. A couple of each can be unlocked. In Yoshi's Ballpark there are pirahna plants. Shoot these plants and Blue Shy Guy and Red Shy Guy will be unlocked. To unlock the Goomba, find him in Wario City and help him find his shop. Gray Shy Guy and Green Shy Guy are hiding in logs in Yoshi Park. Use Peach to get them out and Gray Shy Guy and Green Shy Guy will be unlocked. Find the palm trees in Wario City and pound the ground at the bottom of the tree to unlock Paragoomba.
Other Characters
Beating Bowser Jr. in Yoshi Park will unlock Birdo. Complete all the tutorials teaching you how to play the game to unlock Blooper. At Mario's Stadium complete the task given to you by Blue Noki to unlock him. In Mario's Stadium Blue Pianta is trapped inside of a shop. Save him to unlock him. In Wario City use DK and Wario to solve the block puzzle if you want to unlock Boo. Unlock Dry Bones by beating Bowser Jr.'s Playroom. Save Funky Kong from the Hammer Brother in the DK Jungle to unlock him. After you have unlocked the Blue Noki add him to your team and talk to the Green Noki to unlock the Green Noki. In Wario City there is a chest of Tiny Boos. Talk to them to unlock King Boo. Go to the DK Jungle and beat the four Kritters. After the four Kritters are defeated go into the waterfall and defeat King K. Rool to unlock him. Defeat King K. Rool and the Kritter will be unlocked. Use Peach and look in the potted plant that isn't growing. Finding Petey Piranha there will unlock him. Have the Blue Noki and Green Noki with you when you talk to the Red Noki and he will be unlocked. Use Yoshi to pound on th ground next to the shaking palm tree on the beach at Mario's Stadium to unlock Red Pianta. Defeat Bowser Jr. in the DK Jungle to unlock Tiny Kong. In Wario City find Waluigi on top of a skyscraper to unlock him. Find the Dark Blue Yoshi at Yoshi Park. Answer all his questions correctly to unlock Wiggler. To unlock Yellow Pianta use DK to bash the moving barrel at Mario Stadium.
Fields
Not all of the fields in Mario Super Sluggers are unlocked to begin the game. To unlock Bowser Jr.'s Playroom you must beat Bowser Jr. in the stadium challenge mode. To unlock Bowser's Castle defeat Bowser in Challenge Mode. At the shop in the Peach Ice Garden buy the cruiser pass to unlock Daisy Cruiser. At the shop in Mario Stadium buy Luigi's flashlight to unlock Luigi's Mansion.
Badges
You can unlock a few badges as a reward for doing certain things in Mario Super Sluggers. If you get every character on your team you will unlock the buddy badge. To unlock the Error Item Badge unlock every Error Item. Beat all of the mini games in Challenge Mode and the Play Badge will be unlocked. The Stadium Badge will be unlocked when all of the playable ballparks have been unlocked. The Star Badge will be unlocked when all playable characters have become star players.
