Connect your Wii to your wireless Internet connection or use an Ethernet cable to connect your Wii to your router to establish a wired connection. To connect to a wireless network, enter connection settings under Internet in the Wii settings tab.
Select an open connection and the wireless option and search for an access point. The console should identify any available wireless networks in your home.
Enter security information for your network and save the settings. The Wii will then test the connection and the setup will be complete.
Register your Wii friend. Get your friend's 16-digit friend code and input it in your address book by going to the option to register another Wii console in the address book.
Enter a nickname and the code. You can also attach a Mii icon to the registration to represent your friend.
Share your friend code by opening your address book to the first page. Move your cursor over the left scroll button. Press A and you can view your console's Wii number to give to your friend.
Go to the Mii Plaza channel and enter the options menu. Turn on the travel option. This will allow your Miis to appear on your friends' consoles and for theirs to appear on your Wii. As long as the travel option is on and the friend code is entered those friends' Miis will appear on your console.
View new friends' Miis by selecting the Mii Parade icon. Transfer the new Miis into your Mii Plaza. This will allow them to begin appearing in the Mii compatible games.
