Getting Started
Set your Wii either horizontally on a flat surface, or vertically on the Wii stand. Make sure the system is in an open, ventilated area, to allow the internal fan to function properly. Connect the adapter to the Wii's DC input connector and plug the system into an outlet or surge protector. Plug the sensor bar into the sensor bar connector on the back of the system and place the sensor bar either above or directly below your TV screen. For optimal performance, the sensor bar should be placed near the front of the screen, aligned with the screen's center.
Connect the AV cable to the "AV Multi Out" plug on the back of the Wii. Plug the yellow, red and white AV cables into the corresponding yellow, red and white inputs on your TV. Press the power button on the front of the Wii to turn it on. Turn your TV on and select the proper video input to display the Wii's video.
Wii Remote
Pull back the Wii remote cover and remove the battery cover. Insert two AA batteries into the Wii remote. Open the Wii's SD card cover and press the red "Sync" button. Immediately press the "Sync" button inside the remote's battery cover, just below the batteries. The remote will synchronize with the console. The blue LED light on the front of the remote will stop flashing when the remote is synchronized. Replace the battery cover and the remote cover. Insert your hand into the remote's wrist strap. Adjust the strap so that it fits around your wrist. Always wear your wrist strap when using the Wii, to prevent injury or property damage. If you wish to play a game that requires the Wii nunchuck, plug the nunchuck into the connector located on the bottom of the Wii remote.
Playing a Game
If this is your first time using your Wii, the system will guide you through a quick setup process. Follow the onscreen instructions to set the date, time and Internet settings for the system.
When you are finished with the setup, you will see the Wii channel menu. Insert a game disc into the system. If your system is place vertically, the game disc label will be to the right. If the system is placed horizontally, the label will face upwards. When the game disc is loaded, point the Wii remote at the Disc Channel section of the menu, located in the upper-left of the screen. Press the "A" button to select the channel. Select the "Start" button to begin playing the game. Refer to the game's instruction manual for specific control instructions for your game.
