Non-Traditional Games
Some of the most popular games on the Wii console are the nontraditional, so-called casual games, most notably Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit, Animal Crossing: City Folk and their sequels, such as Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. These games don't feature the violence common in many video games, instead focusing on motion-based mini games and health. Wii Sports is the top-selling game on the Wii console due to the fact that it came bundled with the system. Wii Fit came bundled with a device called the Wii Balance Board, a scale that works as a Wii controller.
Nintendo Exclusive Series
Some of the best selling Wii games are entries in Nintendo exclusive series, such as the Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, Paper Mario, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Mario Kart Wii in particular managed to appeal to both the traditional and nontraditional segments of the market. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy were launch releases.
WiiWare
WiiWare titles are downloadable, original games available from the WiiShop Channel. One of the most critically lauded WiiWare games is The World of Goo, a puzzle game with physics-based elements, meaning that actions in the game have logical consequences. My Life as a King, Toki Tori and Lost Winds are other popular and acclaimed games.
