Wind
One of the best tips is to always compensate for the wind. The wind has an effect on the ball more than ever in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009. If the wind is blowing to the left, then hit the ball to the right and vice versa. If the wind is blowing toward the golfer, then hit the ball harder. If the wind is blowing toward the hole, then hit the ball softer.
Choosing Putters
Ignore the putter that the caddy suggests. If the ball is 10 feet from the hole the caddy will suggest a putter that putts about 10 feet, but he doesn't take into consideration the lay of the field. Take into account whether the golfer is putting downhill or uphill. Are there any slopes between the golfer and the hole? If there is a slope or if the golf is hitting the ball uphill, then the player will need to choose a putter stronger than the one given by the caddy. If the ball is being hit downhill, then the player should choose a weaker putter.
Course Information
Players often ignore the information given for each course but knowing your course information can be valuable. Each course has a hardness and a speed rating. A high rating in hardness or speed is going to make the ball travel longer, so the player may have to hit the ball softer. If the hardness and speed ratings are low, then a player may have to hit the ball harder.
