How To Play Tiger Woods Wii

Tiger Woods PGA is a continuing golfing video-game series featuring Woods and other pros from each year's PGA tour. Versions Tiger Woods PGA 07 to Tiger Woods PGA 10 are available for the Nintendo Wii, and make it possible for you to use that system's wireless and motion-sensing features. Using the Wii remote as a golf club, you get a more realistic feel for the golfing experience. The most recent version of the game (as of 2009) shows improvement in the areas of bugs and issues relating to controller failure. However, the game play is mostly the same for all Wii versions of the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the game and click on the "Practice Mode" option from the main menu by pressing the "A" button on your Wii remote. In this mode, you'll be guided through a tutorial that shows you, step by step, how to play the game. Once you're comfortable with the controls, you can start a single-player game or play the tour mode from the main menu.

    • 2

Choose your player to start practice mode from the "Choose Player" menu. You can choose from among various professional golfers by using your direction pad or moving your Wii remote left or right. Press the "A" button when you've found the player you want. Click on the "Custom Player" option from the "Choose Player" menu to create your own player. When you choose this option, you'll be taken to a character editor where you can change the weight, height, hair color and style, skin color, facial features, and clothes of your player by clicking on each option with your Wii remote.

Select the type of club you want to use before each shot in the game by pressing left or right on the directional pad of your Wii remote, which will change the club your player is holding. Also before hitting, check the wind level and distance of the hole you're swinging toward. The wind meter is at the bottom of the screen by the compass, and the distance is revealed at the bottom of the screen as soon as you press the "B" button to begin your swing.

    • 4

Swing to hit the ball using your Wii remote. First, make sure you're lined up to where your club will hit the ball. While holding the Wii remote like a golf club, hold down the "B" button and swing the remote back. Follow through with the swing and don't release the "B" button until the ball has been hit. The power of the hit is determined by how long you make your backswing. Swing back at a slow speed and then swing forward quickly with force to hit longer and more powerful shots. Don't use too much force, or you might hit the ball into the woods or an area off the fairway.

Putt the ball when you've gotten it to the putting green and you're close to the hole. In terms of the technique involved, putting is similar to swinging a long shot, as described in the previous step, but the controls are more sensitive. Hold the "B" button down and don't use too heavy of a backswing, or your ball will end up very far away. This will take some practice to get the hang of, but remember that your putting must be less powerful and more precise than your long shots. Once you've become used to playing the game, compete with friends, family or the computer. Work to always improve your score and try to win the PGA tour by getting the lowest score possible for every match.
