Things You'll Need
Instructions
Locate and remove the three small stickers from the back of the system. Underneath each sticker will be a screw that needs to be removed. Identify all of the rubber pieces on the system that prevent the Wii from moving. Remove these pieces -- there will be one screw underneath each rubber piece that you will need to unscrew.
Remove the battery pack from the back of the Wii. There will be one screw at the bottom left corner of the back of the system that prevents the battery from being removed. After unscrewing this screw, you will be able to slide the battery out of the back of the unit. Set this battery aside so you do not lose or damage it.
Locate the stickers on the sides of the Wii system. Remove these stickers and unscrew the screws that rest underneath each one. Turn the system so that you are looking at the black faceplate of the Wii. Unscrew the three screws that border the bottom of the faceplate. Remove the faceplate and unscrew the four screws it covered. Once these screws are removed you can slide off the front part of the system. There will be a wire that leads into the Wii; be careful not to disconnect it. Set the front piece of the system safely to the side without disrupting its connection.
Lay the system flat and remove the top plastic covering of the Wii. Once you are looking at the inside of the system, locate and remove the large metal piece which covers most of the internal components.
Take out the CD drive from the system by unscrewing the one screw from each corner that the metal section was covering. Carefully lift the CD drive up slightly so that you can look underneath of it. You will notice that there are two wires that lead away from the drive. Lift up on the small plastic tab by which these wires are connected to the system, and you will be able to remove the CD drive.
