Things You'll Need
Instructions
Take the two plastic covers off the left side of the Wii. These pieces will rotate up on a hinge and easily pop on and off. After these pieces are removed, turn the system over so the back is facing upwards. Remove the three stickers that are on the back of the system. Underneath each sticker is a screw you will need to remove.
Remove the rubber feet from the top left corner of the bottom of the Wii. Underneath the rubber piece will be an additional screw that you need to remove. Locate and remove the screw from the bottom left corner of the bottom of the system. Once this screw is removed, you can slide the battery pack out of the back of the system. Remove the final two screws from the back of the system.
Lay the Wii flat on its side and locate the stickers at the top and bottom left corners. Remove these stickers to once again expose a screw that must be removed. Remove the rubber feet from the top and bottom right corners of the system and take out the screw from underneath each.
Turn the Wii so that the black face is pointing upwards. Unscrew each of the three screws from the bottom side of the black faceplate. After removing the faceplate, unscrew the four screws that remain. The front section of the Wii now will be loose. You can disconnect it by unplugging the wire that leads to the inside of the system, or you can carefully set it aside without disconnecting the wire.
Pull off the top plastic covering of the Wii. After removing all of the screws from the previous steps, this piece will pop up easily. Once the internal components are exposed, located the large metal covering that takes up the majority of the inside of the system. Remove this piece by lifting it up and out of the system.
Remove the CD drive by unscrewing the screw from each corner that the metal piece was covering. Once the CD drive is free, tilt the drive on its side and look underneath to see the two wires that lead off of the drive. Follow the wires to the body of the Wii and pull up on the small plastic tab that holds the wires in place. Once the two tabs are released, the CD drive will be able to be lifted from the system. To reassemble the Wii, put each component back to exactly where it was removed.
