Using the Nunchuck
Locate the input at the bottom of your Wii remote. Plug the cord from the Wii nunchuck directly into the remote's input. Since the nunchuck operates off the main Wii remote's batteries, make sure that your Wii remote has working batteries in it.
Insert a Wii game that requires the nunchuck. Hold the main Wii remote in your dominant hand and hold the nunchuck in your other hand. Many Wii games are played with just the main remote. If the game you insert doesn't use the nunchuck, you will be prompted to disconnect it.
Use your thumb to move the nunchuck's joystick and control character movement. The character will move in the direction the joystick is pressed. In addition, many nunchuck games will utilize the C and Z buttons found on the top edge of the nunchuck. Functions for this button can vary, from jumping to changing weapons to reloading a weapon.
Use the nunchuck as another arm in games that use motion controls for both arms. Many running games use the Wii remote as one arm and the nunchuck as the other. In running games, as you run in place and pump both your arms, you will see your onscreen character move. Boxing games like Punch-Out also make use of the nunchuck. One hand is represented by the Wii remote and the other is represented by the nunchuck. Punching with the nunchuck will result in the corresponding character hand punching. Depending on the game, the Z and C buttons on the nunchuck may be used in addition to your arm movements.
