How to Change Your Wii Bowling Ball

When playing Wii Sports Bowling alone, you aren't given a choice as to which color bowling ball you will use. By default, the color is blue, but this can be changed with a relatively simple trick. Follow these steps to change your Wii bowling ball color, plus use a special diamond-patterned ball.

Instructions

  1. Changing the Ball Color

    • 1

Choose Wii Bowling from the Wii Sports menu and choose a one-player game.

    • 2

Select a Mii character from the menu. Get ready to hold the directional pad--located at the top of the Wii remote--in a particular direction immediately after the warning screen that follows.

    • 3

Hold "Left" on the directional pad immediately after the warning screen to play with a red bowling ball. Continue to hold the button as the screen fades to black.

    • 4

Hold "Down" on the directional pad immediately after the warning screen to play with a green bowling ball. Continue to hold the button as the screen fades to black.

    • 5

Hold "Right" on the directional pad immediately after the warning screen to play with a gold bowling ball. Continue to hold the button as the screen fades to black.

    • 6

Hold "Up" on the directional pad immediately after the warning screen to play with a blue bowling ball. Continue to hold the button as the screen fades to black.

    Unlocking the Patterned Ball

    • 7

Gather skill points by playing several games of bowling with the same Mii character and achieving high scores. An average of 160 points per game or more is ideal.

    • 8

Earn 1,000 skill points in Wii Sports Bowling to unlock the diamond-patterned ball.

    • 9

Play Wii Sports Bowling as any Mii that has over 1,000 skill points to automatically use the diamond-patterned ball.

    • 10

Follow the instructions from Section 1 to change the color of the diamond-patterned ball.
