How to Work the Wii Console to Set the Language

Marketed primarily toward families and children, the Nintendo Wii is a revolutionary video game console that uses motion detection in many of its games. The Wii also offers a variety of "Wii Channels," including internet access, and other menus that allow you to customize your Wii experience. If you are a French or Spanish speaker and are not proficient in English, there are steps you can take to change the language in which your Wii displays these channels and menus.

Instructions

After the Wii Channel menu loads upon powering on the console, use the Wii Remote's pointer to select the Wii icon on the left side of the screen and press "A." This will load the Wii Menu and System Settings screen. On this screen, highlight the Wii Settings button, indicated by a wrench icon, and press "A." This will load the Wii System Settings menu.

Select the Language setting. The Language setting is one of several system settings accessible from the Wii System Settings Menu, which is divided into three pages. Using the Wii Remote, scroll to "Wii System Settings Menu 3" by selecting the blue arrow until the menu appears on the screen. When the menu loads, highlight "Language" and press the A button. This will open the Language setting menu.

Choose a language. In the Language setting menu, use the Wii Remote to highlight the language you want your Wii to display. The three available languages are English, Spanish and French. Once you have highlighted your desired language, press "A" to select it.

Confirm the change. After you have selected a language, use the Wii Remote to highlight the "Confirm" option. Press the "A" button to confirm your changes. Your Wii will now display all menus, channels and other options in the language you selected.
