Power on the Wii remote by pressing the power button. You should see all four LEDs or lights on the controller flashing. This means the controller is ready to be synced.
Open the SD card slot cover on the front of the console. Remove the battery cover on the back of the remote.
Press and release the "SYNC" button that is under the remote's batteries. The LED on the console will blink. On the inside of the SD card compartment on the console, press and release the "SYNC" button. The LED will stop blinking when the syncing is done. The lit LED identifies the player number, 1 through 4.
