How to Make a Wireless Nintendo Wii Sensor Bar

The Nintendo Wii is a huge hit since it's release in 2007. However, one small yet common complaint is that the cord on the Wii sensor bar limits locations for using the Wii. Here's how you can make your own wireless Nintendo Wii sensor bar.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 Infrared LEDs - high output
  • 2 AAA Batteries

Instructions

    • 1

Remove infrared LEDs from the box. Note that the longer wire on the LED is the positive end of the light and the shorter wire is the negative end.

    • 2

Bend the LED wires straight out so that the light lies in the middle.

    • 3

Place the positive end of the LED wire on the positive side of the AAA battery. Bend the wire around the end of the battery.

    • 4

Align the negative end of the LED wire with the negative side of the battery. Bend the wire slightly shorter than the battery so that the battery will fit securely.

    • 5

Put the battery in position between the two wires, positive to positive and negative to negative. The LED should light up.

    • 6

Position the sensors (you should make two) on top of your television about six inches apart.

    • 7

Turn on the Wii and enter "Wii Settings." Click on "Wii Sensor Bar," then "Sensitivity" and press the "A" button to set up the new wireless sensor bar. You are ready to play.
