How to Clean a Wii Game

The Nintendo Wii is one of the hottest game systems around. Not only did it break the mold with it's new style controller that allows the player to actually punch and swing during game play, but the graphics are insane. But like any game system, proper care is required to keep the Wii running smoothly. Here are some tips on how to clean a Nintendo Wii game!

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the game. Flip over the game and check out the back of the disc. If the Wii disk is scratched, chipped, or cracked in anyway, your disc will need to be replaced. If you just opened the package, take it back to the store with your receipt. If however, the disc seems smudged or dirty, you may try and clean your Wii game.

    • 2

Dampen the cloth. Find a soft cloth, something cotton works well, and dampen it ever so slightly with a little water. Make sure the cloth is not overly saturated. Also, be sure not to use a wood based product such as tissues or paper towels, as even though they may be soft, they are made from wood fibers, and have the potential to scratch the game.

    • 3

Clean the Wii game. Starting from the center of the game and working toward the outside, clean the Wii game with your dampened cloth. Be sure not to clean in a circular manner, as this may have an adverse effect on the game as well.

    • 4

See if the game is dry. Make sure the Wii game is completely dry before re-inserting it back into the Wii console.

    • 5

Reinsert the game. Once dry reinsert the game and see if the same error message is recurring. If it is, the game may need to be replaced. Check the Nintendo website for instructions and warranty information.
