Things You'll Need
Instructions
Write an outline for the type of video you want to make and think about the footage you will need to make it. A good plan can save you hundreds of wasted hours. Think of your commentary video as a movie; directors don't just start shooting without a script.
Play ̶0;Call of Duty: Black Ops̶1; and capture the video. If you play on a PC, you can use software like Fraps, Bandicam, or PlayClaw to record gameplay. If you play on Xbox 360 or PS3, you will need to connect the device to a PC using a special capture card. You'll likely need dozens of hours of gameplay to capture the features you wish to highlight.
Import the raw captured video into your video editing software. Windows includes Windows Movie Maker and OS X includes iMovie, both of which are capable of editing game videos. You can also opt for paid, professional solutions like Premiere Pro or Final Cut.
Cut the video into pieces and rearrange it according to your original outline. Be sure to add an intro graphic or title so people know what they are about to see. If you're planning to sync it to music, don't forget to take the song's length into account.
Record your voiceover with a microphone and audio editing software. Audacity, Garage Band and SoundForge all provide the tools you need for producing a voiceover. Recording audio after the fact lets you do multiple takes and gives you more flexibility in adjusting your script.
Import the voiceover into the movie editor and balance the audio so that you can hear both the voiceover and the game. Your viewers want to hear your voice clearly, but also need the game audio for context.
Save the file and export it to the format that suits you best. Full HD exports are good for YouTube uploads and direct sharing, while reduced-sized exports may be necessary for mobile sharing or email.
