How to Get Rare Archaeology Artifacts in World of Warcraft

Rare archaeology artifacts in "World of Warcraft" include vanity items, armor and weapons, often with unique looks or effects. Three achievements also exist linked to finding rare artifacts, requiring you to find one, 10 and 20 of them respectively; the first achievement rewards you with the title "Assistant Professor," the second with the title "Associate Professor" and the third with the title "Professor." Although finding rare artifacts is largely a matter of luck, there are ways to improve how quickly you get them.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Press "K" to open the Professions window, click "Archaeology" and select "Completed Artifacts." Compare the list of rare artifacts you have already completed with a full list of available rare artifacts, such as the one on the official World of Warcraft website (see Resources) to determine which races have rare artifacts you have yet to complete.

    • 2

Prioritize gathering from dig sites of those races whenever possible. Because dig site generation is random for each continent, you won't always be able to do this.

    • 3

Purchase keystones for those races from the auction house. Whenever an artifact has one or more keystone slots available, use the keystones to solve it. Doing this means you use less fragments for each artifact you solve, meaning you get, on average, more artifacts solved for the same amount of time spent gathering fragments.

    • 4

Gather exclusively from dig sites located in Pandaria once your archaeology skill is high enough. Crate all common artifacts you find and use them to buy more fragments of the races from which you are still missing rare artifacts. You can only do this at the Seat of Knowledge, located above Mogu'shan Palace in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. To get there by yourself, you will need to be level 90, since the location can only be reached by flying; if you have a friend with a two-seat flying mount, however, you can ask him to take you there.
