GameGuard Is Failing on Rappelz With Windows Vista

Rappelz is an MMORPG that uses GameGuard to protect its players from viruses and malicious game "riskware." GameGuard can fail for a number of reasons, each of which is signified by the error code that accompanies the failure message. Most often the failure can be fixed by changing settings on your computer and cleaning out the temporary files that are taking up too much space on your hard drive.
  1. New Update Failure

    • GameGuard will check for a new update every time it is run. If you receive a GameGuard update failure with error code 340, 350, 361 or 380 it means that GameGuard has failed to check for a new update. A computer's firewall or other security program may restrict the Internet connection and prevent GameGuard from updating. Allow GameGuard through your firewall by clicking the Start button in the lower left corner of the screen. Click "Control Panel | Security | Windows Firewall | Allow a program through Windows Firewall." Click on the box next to "Sframe.exe" and "Launcher.exe" and other files associated with GameGuard and Rappelz to select the programs. Click "OK."

    Failure Error 180

    • When GameGuard has an update failure and sends error code 180, it means that access to a vital file that is needed for an update has been denied, which is caused by a lack of hard disk space. Delete temporary files and remove unnecessary files by running Disk Cleanup. Click the Start button, then click "All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup." The Disk Cleanup Options dialog box will appear on-screen. Select the temporary files you wish to clean up and the hard disk drive they are saved on and click "OK." Click the "Disk Cleanup" tab and click the boxes next to the files you wish to delete. Click "OK" and then click "Delete files" to start Disk Cleanup. Do not select "System Restore" and "Shadow Copies" or you will remove restore points and the files associated with them.

    Initialization Failure

    • GameGuard can fail to run and send an initialization fail error code 114 when it has not been shut down properly. Restart your computer to allow GameGuard to shut down properly. Once your computer has finished booting up, Open Task Manager by pressing "Control" "Alt" and "Delete" simultaneously. Click the "Processes" tab. Click on any processes that are not necessary that may be running in the background and click "End Process." Lists of necessary processes can be found at the Microsoft website.

    Run Rappelz

    • In order to play Rappelz on Windows Vista without receiving an error message, you will need to run the Rappelz Launcher in administrator mode. Go to the Rappelz Directory on your computer, which is saved by default at "C:\Program Files\GALA-NET\Rappelz_USA." Right-click "Launcher.exe" and select "Properties." Click the "Compatibility" tab. Click the box next to "Run this program as an administrator" located under "Privilege Level." Click "OK" and double click "Launcher.exe" to run the Launcher and open Rappelz.
