Roles
In "Aika Online," the warlock can take on several roles in the party, depending on the way you build your character. Warlocks often provide long range damage-per-second, or DPS, spells, hurting monsters from a distance while other classes move in for close combat. The warlock can also act as crowd control, keeping enemy priests and mages from casting spells or weakening boss monsters. This character's basic roles are similar in both PvE and PvP, but you need different spells for each kind of play.
PvE Warlock Builds
You can choose from two major PvE builds for the warlock: single target and area of effect, or AOE. Single-target warlocks are built to take down just one enemy at a time as fast as possible. These characters should focus on getting high levels of the Enervate, Lightning Orb, Hellfire, Black Harvest and Aether Flare spells, plus level 1/10 Polymorph and level 2/3 Mass Teleport spells. The AOE warlock is built to gather up enemies and dispatch them in large groups. For this build, focus on maximum levels of Mana Shield, Black Harvest, Shadow Fall, Soul Trap, Inferno and Meteor spells. Choose Fireballs, Enervate, Hellfire, Aetheric Shackles, Aether Flare, Nightmare, Rend Soul and Mass Teleport at lower levels.
PvP Warlock Builds
The PvP warlock needs slightly different specifications to do its job correctly. You can build single-target, battlefield or mass PvP characters depending on what role you'd like to play. The single target PvP warlock focuses on one enemy, plus crowd control. Choose Soul Trap and Aether Flare at maximum for this build, plus Polymorph, Lightning Orb, Mana Shield, Hellfire and Aetheric Shackles at lower levels, along with Black Harvest, Shadow Fall, Nightmare, Rend Soul and Meteor. The battlefield build is meant to lock up enemy mages and has a strong focus on Lightning Orb, Aether Flare, Inferno and Rend Soul, with lower levels of Polymorph, Mana Shield, Hellfire, Aetheric Shackles, Black Harvest and Shadow Fall, as well as Nightmare and Meteor. Mass PvP characters focus on DPS and crowd control with little close-up magic. They should get Fireball, Aetheric Shackles, Soul Trap, Aether Flare, Rend Soul and Mass Teleport to high levels as quickly as possible, with lesser ranks of Polymorph, Mana Shield, Hellfire, Shadow Fall and Meteor.
Considerations
The basic builds can be adjusted and changed extensively to suit your personal preferences, but it's usually not a good idea to deviate too much. The wrong build can prevent your warlock from being effective in party play. Experiment a little with your spells, but have a good idea what you want from your character as soon as you start playing.
