The Class
Characters who have reached level 40 can travel to the Magic City of Juno and apply for sage training at the academy. Sage training includes increases in physical attributes and combat with weapons along with magical learning and the ability to use spells without many of the restrictions placed on mage or priest classes. Sages make great protectors for the other magical classes, and offer you the ability to effectively hunt demons without a group.
Statistics
Intelligence is the most important statistic for a battle sage. Sages rely heavily on intelligence for the majority of their special abilities, and all their magical power comes directly from this statistic. Agility provides the bulk of your defense, and higher strength allows you to hit harder in melee combat. Vitality provides only a small boost to life, and the dexterity and luck statistics offer the fewest benefits for the abilities of this class.
Skills
Many mage skills obtained during your trek to level 40 still offer some utility as a battle sage. Make sure that you take the first level of stone curse as a mage. This allows you to take heaven̵7;s drive, one of the most powerful sage abilities in the game. The free cast skill remains invaluable for a sage, allowing you to quickly deliver your most potent spells while still engaging in melee combat.
Additional Considerations
The ultimate consideration for your battle sage lies in its defined purpose. If you primarily engage in combat against monsters, a heavier focus on high-damage spells and area-of-effect attacks will allow you to remain an effective spellcaster while still defending others in your area. For player-versus-player combat, focus on skills and spells that inflict status effects and disable your foes. Few enemy players can easily withstand the combined punch of melee and magic, but those who can will cause high amounts of damage to your sage. Consider increasing vitality at the expense of agility if you engage players more often than monsters.
