How to Jump and Not Teleport With Blink

Blizzard Entertainment released the original version of Warcraft in November of 1994, and Warcraft 1, 2, and 3 are among the biggest selling computer games of all time. When Blizzard halted development of the RTS version of Warcraft in the early 2000s, players and enthusiasts started creating their own versions based on the original engine. In offshoot versions such as DOTA and Heroes of Newerth, ̶0;Blink̶1; refers to a spell that allows a character to move from one spot on the map to another instantaneously. Mostly used for teleportation, you can also use Blink to jump directly onto an opposing team character and attack.

Instructions

  Launch DOTA or Heroes of Newerth on your PC. Log in with your user name and password.

  Scroll through the list of available games and select the one you wish to join. Double-click the game name to open the lobby for that game. Wait for the hero selection process to begin.

  Select a hero that uses the Blink ability. In DOTA Anti Mage and Warden benefit greatly from Blink, as do Mage Bane and Night Hound in Heroes of Newerth. Note that the name for the Blink ability varies depending on which hero you choose, but the functionality of the ability is basically the same.

  Begin playing the game. Select the blink ability as you increase your basic experience level. Read the description for the ability to determine the effective range you can teleport or jump.

  Position your hero character within teleportation range of an enemy hero. Click the Blink ability icon or press the keyboard hot keys to prepare the ability.

  Click directly on an enemy hero instead of an area on the ground. If you are within the effective jump range, the hero will jump on top of the enemy hero. During the leap, you see the hero move quickly. This differs from teleporting where the hero disappears and the reappears at the target location. Use other abilities and spells to continue attacking as you normally would.
