How to Cut Willows Faster

Cutting trees in the multiplayer online video game RuneScape is an essential part of advancing through the game. Willow trees require experience to cut and are not accessible until Level 30, but even then you should not start cutting them before Level 35, as your wood-chopping will be too slow. Focus first on cutting normal trees and oaks to acquire the skills and more powerful hatchets with which to chop down willows. According to Imre Jele, the content producer of the game, RuneScape's appeal is the acquisition of skills and the trading of virtual goods to advance your position. When cutting willows, you raise your experience level to obtain better raw materials that can be sold to other players to increase your virtual wealth and status.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the bronze hatchet that is given to you once you finish Tutorial Island in Level 1. The Survival Expert gives this to you, and bronze is the lowest woodcutting tool, but the iron hatchet, available also in the lowest level, is a better cutting tool.

    • 2

Move your character to Lumbridge, where you can purchase a more powerful iron hatchet for 60 coins. Later, in Level 6, you can buy the more advanced steel hatchet for 200 coins, or, if you are lucky, find or buy a black hatchet, which is the best weapon you can obtain up to Level 15. The better the tool, the faster your cutting is.

    • 3

Walk north to the general store. West of the store is a forest where you can start woodcutting. Sell 97 of the cut trees at the store so that you can enter Level 15.

    • 4

Cut down oak trees west of the general store to improve your skill level. As you hone your skills, you speed up your woodcutting . Continue to sell logs at the store or deposit them at banks. Buy a Mithril hatchet when another player offers to sell you one. It costs between 1,000 to 2,000 coins, or you must cut 293 oak logs to get one.

    • 5

Once you reach Level 30, you may switch to cutting willows because you have a stronger and faster hatchet, but wait until Level 35 for optimum results. Walk west to Draynor, which is known for its willows. Next to the town bank are willows. Cut those down and bank them for 20 coins each. Willows are also found close to the game's rivers, lakes and oceans.

    • 6

Move north of Crafting Guild and west of Falador's Southern Gates to find more willows. Cut these and drop them on the ground. Buy a Woodcutting Cape of Achievement from the Woodcutting Tutor, Wilfred, once you reach Level 99. It costs 99,000 coins and he is found south of the Lumbridge furnace. Using the cape will further boost your woodcutting abilities.
