How to Get Past the Spotlight in Great Pumpkin Island

Poptropica is a virtual world designed to let children play games -- known as "quests" -- and explore in a safe online environment. In a Halloween-themed Poptropica quest, Great Pumpkin Island, the player interacts with the characters from the comic strip Peanuts. Immediately after a scene in which the player successfully evades the Red Baron, she lands behind enemy lines. She must then flee to safety, while avoiding the spotlight searching for her from above.

Instructions

  Time your motion to avoid the spotlight, which will swing back and forth rhythmically. Hide behind objects to avoid being spotted when the spotlight passes you. Time your runs from object to object to reach each hiding place before the spotlight returns. The scene starts beside a sign reading "Chalons-sur-Marne 70."

  Run to the right and hide behind the large rock. Wait for the spotlight to pass over you twice, then run again once it is behind you. Continue timing your runs to avoid the spotlight. After the first rock, keep moving and hiding behind a series of objects -- the trench, rock, sprig of grass, haystack and sign reading "Pont-a-Mousson 3KM," as well as in the stream.

  Jump onto the fence, and from the fence to the roof of the house. Hide behind the chimney to avoid the spotlight. Run to the right and jump off the roof. Continue past the right edge of the screen to complete the scene.
