What a PlayOnline ID Does

• When you start the "Final Fantasy XI" game for the first time, you receive a PlayOnline ID. This ID verifies your account and lets you log in to the game safely. It protects you and your account from unauthorized access. You also need this ID to install expansion packs for your game, such as "Treasures of Aht Urgan" and "Rise of the Zilart."

Forgotten PlayOnline ID

• Your PlayOnline ID consists of four capital letters and four numbers. To find your PlayOnline ID, launch the PlayOnline Viewer that installed on your computer when you installed "Final Fantasy XI." Enter your PlayOnline password. Look under the Members List header to find your PlayOnline ID. If you cannot open the PlayOnline Viewer, or if you forgot your password, you need to call Square Enix.

Forgotten PlayOnline Password

• Square Enix does not allow you to recover your lost PlayOnline password online for account security reasons. If you cannot remember your PlayOnline password, call the Square Enix Information Center at 858-790-7529 (PLAY) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m PST, Monday through Friday. Square Enix only accepts calls from the actual account holder. When you call, provide your PlayOnline ID or other identifying information. Square Enix will issue you a new password.

Transfer Your PlayOnline ID to a Square Enix Account

• In 2011, Square Enix started allowing "Final Fantasy XI" players to merge their PlayOnline ID into a Square Enix account. This eliminates the need to use the PlayOnline launcher or remember your ID and password. To merge your accounts, sign up for a Square Enix account, if you have not already done so. On the account creation screen, enter your PlayOnline ID. If you already have a Square Enix account, log in to it to see the Account Management screen. Enter your PlayOnline ID to merge accounts.
