How to Decrease Ping in Darkfall Online

"Darkfall Online," an open player versus player (PVP) MMORPG, connects to a central server when you enter the game world. Your ping to this server is determined by several factors, such as your physical location relative to the server location, your Internet connection speed and your connection to the modem or router. If you have a high ping, your in-game commands take longer to travel from your "Darkfall Online" client to the server and server information is also slower, resulting in a laggy gameplay experience and difficulty during PVP fights.

  Switch your network connection from a wireless connection to a wired connection. Insert an Ethernet cable into the network card interface on your computer. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the port on your router. Wired connections provide faster network speeds and may decrease your in-game "Darkfall Online" ping.

  Connect your computer directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable. If you experience data loss behind a router, the ping may decrease with a direct modem connection.

  Shut down any background programs on your computer that connect to the Internet. If you have many different programs downloading while you are in-game, your "Darkfall Online" ping increases.

  Log in during off-peak times if you use cable Internet. The cable bandwidth is shared throughout your immediate vicinity, so if your neighborhood primarily uses the same cable Internet provider, your ping may increase due to usage.

  Purchase a faster Internet package. Upgrading your package increases the maximum download and upload speed, decreasing ping.
