How to Install a CHD File on an Xbox

Compressed Hard Disk (CHD) files are standard files found within Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (MAME) applications. MAME applications are emulators designed for use on your softmodded (operating system modified) Xbox gaming system. These emulators allow you to play unofficial arcade games on your Xbox system. The process of loading a MAME emulator with CHD system files onto your Xbox is fairly straightforward.

Xbox memory card
Memory card reader with USB cable

Instructions

  Download the desired MAME file package onto your computer.

  Insert the Xbox memory card into the memory card reader, then plug the USB cable from the reader into an available USB port on your computer. The folder for the memory card will open on your computer.

  Drag and drop the MAME file package into the memory card folder, then remove the memory card from the reader.

  Insert the Xbox memory card into the memory card slot on your Xbox console, then press the ̶0;Power̶1; button to turn the system on. A pop-up message asking if you want to install the file will appear when the system loads.

  Select ̶0;Yes̶1; using your Xbox controller, then press the ̶0;A" button to begin the install.
