Launch "Lord of The Rings Online" and log into your account. All account types, free and paid, have access to the hunter class and all four races. The available races are elves, nimble and nature-loving; dwarves, strong and dependable; hobbits, pleasure-loving and kind-hearted; and humans, the most versatile and populous of the races. Choose a realm and click on "New Character." The character creation process contains information helpful in choosing your character's race.
Click on the different races at the left of the screen to view an image of the race. Click on the male and female icons to view male and female versions of the race. Remember that you will spend a lot of time looking at your character; gameplay is more fun if you have a character you enjoy looking at.
Click on the hunter icon below the race icons. Look at the right-hand side of the screen to view information about hunters and about the race you have selected. The character creation screen lists the bonuses and drawbacks of each race.
Consider your play style. If you intend to play by yourself while you level, you might want to consider a hardy race, such as a dwarf or hobbit. But if you intend to play with other players, in temporary (fellowship) or long-term (kinship) groups, you might want to sacrafice hardiness, or character health, for the ability to deal large amounts of damage quickly to enemies. For example, elves have a bonus to their bow damage, but they are physically weak. Hobbits do not have the bow damage bonus but have extra vitality, allowing them to handle solo battles more efficiently.
Create a character of each race and play the characters through the tutorial to get an idea of the personality of the character as well as the lore of the race. The tutorial or introduction area is quick, requiring less than an hour of play, and gives you a taste of the race's lore.
Consider what your class speciality will be. Bowmasters deal high amounts of damage, making elves a perfect fit. Trappers are determined, making the hardiness of dwarves useful. Huntsmen are always on the go and the hobbit vitality bonus comes in handy.
Choose a race that you like to look at, like the lore behind and have fun playing. In the end, small racial bonuses are not going to affect your game play.
