What Does the Green Armor Mean on World of Warcraft?

World of Warcraft is a popular MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) that was launched in late 2004. Since then it has expanded to include a variety of expansions. In the game your character can collect, buy and equip a variety of different weapons, accessories and armor. These items are identifiable by names and stats, but also by the colors of the text their names display.
  1. Armor Basics

    • Armor in "World of Warcraft" is organized by different colors, and each color represents a certain level of power and rarity. Grey-colored items are poor, white items are common, green items are uncommon, blue items are rare, purple items are epic and orange items are legendary. As you level up and explore more, you will be able to find rarer and better quality items.

    Green Armor

    • Green armor is the uncommon set of items. You won't find these everywhere or in the starting areas, but they aren't the hardest to find. This is the first set of items that will be "bind on equip," meaning that after you equip the item it cannot be sold or traded to anyone else. Green items also included bonuses to stats, but not as many as higher-level items. They are useful for lower-level players as they begin to explore the world and should be taken over white gear.

    Uses

    • Green armor is great for wearing, but there are a few other things you can do with it if you find you don't need or want to equip it. The first use is selling it on the auction house for gold. You can also disenchant it, which extracts magical elements that can be used for making other items. However, this destroys the disenchanted item in the process, so be careful you really don't want it.

    Considerations

    • If you find that you don't need a green item and don't want anything to do with it, selling it on the auction house is a better choice than giving it to a vendor. This is because, not only can you get more money than a vendor will give you, but you'll be helping other players by providing items they might need. Don't simply toss items you don't need; see if there is anyone else who could use them. At higher levels, green items may not be worth much, but there is usually always someone who can use something you don't want.
