How to Get a Pet Step-by-Step in Secret of Solstice

"Secret of Solstice" was upgraded and renamed "Solstice Reborn," but the steps for getting a pet remain the same. You have to reach a certain experience level before a Pet Merchant will agree to help you. He won't do it for free, as you'll need to complete a few objectives to finally get a pet. Once you have this pet, it will be able to help you in battles and will give your enemies another target to worry about.

Instructions

  Play through the game until you reach level 25. Open your Quest listing, and select "Tame a Monster." Go to the Pet Merchant that is to the east of the North Guard in Essene and talk to him.

  Select "I'd Like to Buy a Pet" from the list of options. Select "Continue Conversation," then "Yes." Choose "Continue Conversation" again, then "Any Hints??," "Watermelon??" and finally "End Conversation." You'll need five yellow watermelons to continue. You can get yellow watermelons by defeating Hawgs, Buckles, Toadmelters, Hoolios, Giant Poyo Poyos and Halloween StarBears.

  Talk to the Pet Merchant again after you have five yellow watermelons, and you will automatically give them to him. Select "Continue Conversation," then "End Conversation." He'll need a drink before he will talk to you further. Go slightly east and then south to reach the General Store.

  Select "Ask About Making Juice"; then select the type of juice that you want to make. You'll need five tangerines to make a tangerine juice, 10 oranges for an orange juice and 15 grapes for a grape juice. By the time you reach level 25, you should have plenty of all of these fruits, but if not, then just buy some from the General Store. Go back to the Pet Merchant after you have one juice.

  Click on the juice in your inventory and drag it on top of the Pet Merchant. Select "Continue Conversation"; then select "Hatch Right Away" to hatch your pet.
