How to DPS Shadow Priest 40

A shadow priest's spell rotation in "World of Warcraft" changes dramatically because as his level increases, he gains access to more spells. Upon achieving level 40, you have access to most spells in your rotation, however, there are some spells and talents you don't have access to, such as Pain and Suffering, Vampiric Touch, Mind Spike and Mind Sear. Understanding your spell rotation increases your damage per second (DPS) and helps you level faster and more efficiently.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure Shadowform is active. Shadowform increases all shadow damage you deal by 15 percent, reduces all damage you take by 10 percent and increases the speed with which your spells are cast by five percent; however, because you can't cast holy spells while in Shadowform, it automatically becomes inactive if you heal yourself or others, or resurrect somebody.

    • 2

Cast Shadow Word: Pain and Devouring Plague on your target, then cast Mind Blast, and Mind Flay.

    • 3

Continue casting Mind Flay until Mind Blast is available again, then cast Mind Blast.

    • 4

Continue casting Mind Flay and Mind Blast, refreshing Shadow Word: Pain and Devouring Plague when they expire, until your target's health is low enough that a single Shadow Word: Death will kill it.

    • 5

      Cast Shadow Word: Death.
