How to Play World of Warcraft on a Solid State or Raptor Drive

SSD or Raptor drives have faster read and write speeds than many other hard drives on the market as of the time of publication. If you install a computer game such as "World of Warcraft" to a faster drive, you'll get a slight performance boost as the game files are accessed more quickly than they would be on a different hard drive. Installing "World of Warcraft" to one of these drives does not require special preparation.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert your "World of Warcraft" game disc into your computer, or download and double-click the game client from Battle.net.

    • 2

Click the "Install" button. Scroll through the entire terms of service and end user license agreement, then click "Accept."

    • 3

Select your game's language. Click "OK." Select your SSD or Raptor drive from the installation directory window. Click "OK." Click "OK" again on the main installation window to begin the process. Wait while the software is installed on your system. Follow the progress bar to see how much longer the installation has to go.

    • 4

Open the "World of Warcraft" launcher from the game directory on your Raptor or SSD. Wait for the game to download and apply all patches. This process can take some time for the initial installation, as you are downloading all of the game patches at one time. Watch the patch progress bar and click "Play" once it completes to launch "World of Warcraft."
