How to Bind in CoD:BO

"Call of Duty: Black Ops" doesn't offer an ingame keybinding menu. Instead, you edit keybinds through a configuration file in the game's installation folder. Bind many different actions, chat text and game commands through the key binding configuration file. Back up the original configuration file to avoid any problems that could render the game unusable, since this is an essential file for the game to run properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start" and select "Computer." Double-click the drive you installed "Call of Duty: Black Ops" on.

    • 2

Double-click "Program Files." Double-click "Call Of Duty: Black Ops." Double-click "Players."

    • 3

Right-click the file "config_mp.cfg" and open it in a text editor such as Notepad.

    • 4

Start each keybind line by typing "bind" and a space. Type the key you want to bind your command to. Add a space. Type the command. You can bind ingame console commands that you would normally use in the chatbook, such as say, to a specific key. For example, the command "bind F1 "say /"incoming enemy/"" repeats the incoming enemy line in your team's chat, so you can quickly inform your teammates of hostile players in the area.

Press "Esc" and click "Settings." Click "Controls" if you just want to change the default keybinds. Press the action you wish to bind to another key. Press the new key to set it. Close this panel when you finish.
