Instructions
Create a character with the first job level of Knight and the second job level of Lord Knight to unlock the Rune Knight job class. Your base job level needs to be at least level 99, while your Knight job level needs to be level 50 and your Lord Knight level needs to be level 60.
Travel to Prontera once you meet the Rune Knight prerequisites. Head to the east side of town until you reach the inn. Head south from the inn and enter the bar you find.
Open a dialog with the NPC named Splendid Looking Knight. Choose "Sure, let's have a drink" and "I'm ready to be a Rune Knight" to begin your class change. Leave the city and travel north west until you reach the dungeon named Glast Heim. Find the NPC named Rune Knight Jungberg. Tell him "I want to be a Rune Knight."
Go to the second floor of this dungeon and talk to Rune Knight Staff. Once you talk to Staff, he ports you to the main Rune Knight area. Open a dialog with Rune Knight Captain to continue your Rune Knight transformation. Finally, go to Rune Knight Lunarea. Choose the option to take the Rune Knight test.
Kill all of the monsters in the room as they spawn. Talk to the Rune Knight NPCs as they appear during your testing. Talk to all of the Rune Knights in the room once the test is over and read through the three books they offer. Open a dialog with Rune Knight Reona. Tell her "I'm prepared" so she sends you to the next questing area.
Talk to Sage Serpeone and accept her quest. Kill all quest monsters before returning to the sage. Tell her "I've gathered enough energy." You'll be sent back to the Rune Knights. Speak with Rune Knight Reona. Play the matching mini-game by clicking on the furnace by Reona and typing in each rune name as the symbol appears on the furnace. Open another chat with Reona then talk to the Rune Captain and Velpino.
Put most of your equipment except for your weapon and armor in storage to meet the weight requirements for the final Rune Knight test. Talk to Rune Knight Velpino and click "Enter the Final Test Field."
Use the Rune items that Velpino gives you as your enter the arena. Defeat all three monsters to pass the test. Go through all of Velpino's dialog options until he instructs you to talk to the Captain. Talk to the Captain and put your equipment in storage. Talk to Captain Tigris once more to finalize the change to Rune Knight. He also gives you Rune Knight starting equipment.
